Exercise 1
a. Many scientists’ experiments suggest that there are dangerous levels of Chemical X in the Ohio groundwater.
b. According to many book clubs, this novel has certain flaws in which the book club discusses.
c. Talking to many women and men, I have heard them suggest that football is boring.
d. Students and teachers alike seem to believe that male students dominate class discussions.
e. Movie Critics write that the film is really about the problems of romantic relationships.
f. Templates are very helpful, but numerous people think that templates will stifle their creativity.
Exercise 2
If there ever was an idea custom made for a Jay Leno monologue, this was it: people only listening to one kind of genre of music. Isn’t that like eating the same thing for lunch everyday? Whatever happened to diversity?
I happen to sympathize with the people who like all kinds of music, though, perhaps because I get bored of listening to the same thing all of the time.

Your monolouge idea was something that i found very relatable, yet the conclusion didnt seem to flow. The way it was worded it seemed as if it should have shown the sympathetic side to those who do only perfer a single genre of music, possibly followed by a statement such "although i do enjoy many genres of music myself, i do perfer ______ above all else".
ReplyDeleteYou had original statements for the exercise. I liked the first one where you used “many scientists’ experiments…”. I thought it was well written for the most part. Point C however I am a little skeptical about because you said “I have heard…”. I think a little bit of rephrasing this one would be better suited for the exercise.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, you did a great job on this assignment. I found your version of the Jay Leno Monologue portion to be very personal and unique, along with being relateable to many college students out there. For the first portion of the exercise, you could have shown a little more of that uniqueness when you revised the sentences, but overall you did a great job!
